4,096 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Texas, 200 additional deaths
Across the state, 4,096 more coronavirus cases and 200 COVID-19 deaths were reported Friday.
Texas has now reported 1,657,857 total cases and 26,408 fatalities.
Of the new cases, 3,123 were confirmed and 973 were probable. The state has reported 1,467,898 confirmed cases and 189,959 probable cases.
The state also added 219 older confirmed cases and 20 older probable cases that were recently reported by labs.
There are 10,868 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 3,346 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
On Friday, 21.35% of patients in the hospital region covering the D-FW area were COVID-19 patients, according to the state dashboard.
The seven-day average positivity rate statewide for molecular tests, based on the date of test specimen collection, was 14.94% as of Thursday. State health officials said using data based on when people were tested provides the most accurate positivity rate.
For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 9.71%.
