Texas continues to dominate job creation across the U.S., with recent data showing a total of 187,700 new jobs added over the past year

Austin, Texas – Texas has once again secured its position as the leader in job creation in the United States, with Governor Greg Abbott highlighting the state’s remarkable economic achievements. Recent data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for January confirms Texas’ robust economic health, which has seen the most significant number of new jobs added over the past year compared to any other state.

In his announcement, Governor Abbott praised the strategic initiatives that have contributed to the state’s success.

“Texas is America’s jobs engine,” he said, emphasizing the state’s effective combination of a skilled workforce and a business-friendly environment that continues to draw diverse industries from both domestic and international origins.

The state’s impressive job figures for January alone stood at 27,900 new nonfarm jobs, culminating in a total of 187,700 jobs added from January 2024 to January 2025. These numbers not only lead the nation but also reflect the state’s ongoing commitment to fostering an environment conducive to growth and development.

Initiatives like the Governor’s Small Business Freedom Council, launched in December, and a legislative emphasis on career training highlight the state’s efforts to streamline regulations and bolster educational and infrastructural investments.

Earlier this month, the state was also awarded the Governor’s Cup for the 13th consecutive year, an accolade that recognizes Texas as the top state for job-creating business location and expansion projects. This achievement underscores the state’s continuous appeal as a hub for business and innovation.
