Texas Governor Greg Abbott announces the closure of the Operation Lone Star jail booking facility in Jim Hogg County, citing a significant reduction in illegal border crossings thanks to Trump admin policies

Austin, Texas – In an announcement, Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed the planned closure of the Operation Lone Star jail booking facility in Jim Hogg County. This move comes as a direct result of President Donald Trump’s stringent border security measures, which have significantly reduced illegal border crossings to record lows.

Governor Abbott praised President Trump for his decisive actions, which he credited for the decreased need for such facilities.

“Thanks to President Trump, illegal border crossings are at all-time record lows and, unlike under President Joe Biden, the Trump Administration is quickly deporting illegal immigrants from our country,” said Governor Abbott. “As a result, there is no longer a need for Texas to maintain the jail booking facility in Jim Hogg County. Texas will continue to assist the Trump Administration in arresting, detaining, and deporting illegal immigrants.”

Texas has already started to phase out operations at the facility and has set April as the official closure date.
