Fort Worth Municipal Court invites community to address pending citations safely during Court in the Community event featuring legal help, job services, and social support resources

Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth residents grappling with outstanding citations have a unique opportunity to resolve their legal issues without the fear of arrest, thanks to the upcoming Court in the Community/Warrant Forgiveness event. Scheduled for April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, the event will be held at the Vivian J. Lincoln Library located at 8829 McCart Ave.
This initiative, hosted by the Fort Worth Municipal Court, is open to anyone with pending citations issued by the court. It provides a safe harbor for individuals to address their cases directly, offering a chance to clear up outstanding issues through a variety of resolutions. These might include alternatives such as community service or adjustments to fines based on one’s ability to pay. The court aims to see up to 120 individuals during the event, operating on a first-come, first-served basis.
“I encourage anyone who has an outstanding citation with the Fort Worth Municipal Court to contact us immediately so we can provide options to move those cases to a final resolution,” said Court Director William Rumuly. “We are a Safe Harbor Court, meaning we do not arrest persons who come voluntarily to see us on their outstanding cases.”
In addition to legal resolutions, the event will feature community partners offering supplementary services that can aid in attendees’ broader life challenges. Goodwill North Central Texas, for instance, will be on hand to provide employment opportunities, job placement services, and one-on-one career counseling. Their services, which include resume writing, interviewing skills training, and job search techniques, are available at no cost, and no appointment is necessary.
The City of Fort Worth EnVision Center and Community Action Partners will also be present to share information about social services they offer. This includes assistance with rental and utility bills, job skills training, and other supports provided through the Neighborhood Services Department.
For individuals focused solely on citations related to traffic, ordinance, and penal code violations through the issuance of a citation, this event offers a specific venue to address those concerns without the overhang of potential arrest, provided the warrants were issued by the Fort Worth Municipal Court.
