Dianna Giordano promoted to Assistant City Manager of Fort Worth, bringing decades of HR leadership to key role overseeing multiple city departments

Fort Worth, Texas – In a recent development at the City of Fort Worth, Dianna Giordano, the former Director of Human Resources and Civil Service, has been promoted to Assistant City Manager. This announcement was made by City Manager Jay Chapa during a City Council work session held on Tuesday.
Dianna Giordano steps into her new role with a wealth of experience, boasting over 25 years in HR leadership, particularly in developing progressive policies and delivering results-oriented solutions. Her tenure as Director of Human Resources and Civil Service since June 2021 has been marked by significant contributions across various sectors including city and county levels, and municipally owned water and electric utilities.
City Manager Jay Chapa expressed his confidence in Giordano’s abilities, emphasizing the rigorous internal recruitment process that led to her selection.
“We conducted an internal recruitment for this coveted position and found Dianna to have the expertise and experience needed to lead effectively as the City continues to grow,” Chapa said. “I am excited to welcome her to the City Manager’s Office and look forward to her continued work in this new role.”
Giordano has been instrumental in guiding both line employees and senior executives through complex areas such as employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, safety, talent acquisition, compensation, and career progression programs. Her experience is expected to enrich her new responsibilities which will encompass Human Resources, Information Technology Solutions, Intergovernmental Relations, and CMO Administration.
Reflecting on her appointment, Giordano shared her enthusiasm and dedication to her new role.
“It’s been a privilege to work for the City of Fort Worth,” Giordano said. “I’ve been excited to be here since the first day I walked in. I look forward to serving in this new capacity and continuing to support the City, its residents and employees.”
Giordano is set to officially take over her new duties on Monday, April 7. Meanwhile, the city will soon announce an interim HR director to fill the vacancy left by Giordano until a permanent replacement is appointed.
She succeeds Interim Assistant City Manager Richard Zavala, who retired on Friday, March 28, after dedicating over three decades to serving as director of Park & Recreation. Giordano’s promotion marks a significant step in her career and highlights her profound impact on the city’s administration.
