Governor Greg Abbott celebrates Texas’ unprecedented economic expansion, highlighting a record-setting employment rate and business growth that positions the state as the leader in job creation

Austin, Texas – In a rousing celebration of economic milestones, Texas has once again set new records in employment and business growth, reinforcing its status as a powerhouse in the national economy. According to the latest figures released by the Texas Workforce Commission, the state’s labor force, employment rates, and nonfarm job numbers have reached unprecedented highs.
As of January 2025, the Texas labor force boasted a historic peak of 15,750,800 individuals, the largest number ever recorded in the state. This surge is accompanied by an equally impressive employment rate, with 15,103,300 Texans, including those self-employed, gainfully occupied, marking yet another record-setting figure. Additionally, the total nonfarm jobs in Texas escalated to 14,236,400 after a notable increase of 27,900 jobs in January alone.
This remarkable growth extends beyond mere numbers. Over the past year, from January 2024 to January 2025, Texas added a robust 187,700 nonfarm jobs. Such consistent upward trends in employment and business operations underscore the state’s dominant position in the American economic landscape.
Governor Greg Abbott, in response to these achievements, hailed Texas as “America’s most dynamic economy.” He attributed this success to the industrious spirit of Texas residents and a favorable business climate that fosters entrepreneurial ventures and expansive business operations.
“Texas truly is the land of economic freedom, where entrepreneurs and business owners can cast a vision and know they can achieve that vision,” Abbott said in a news release.
Under Governor Abbott’s leadership, Texas has won the prestigious Governor’s Cup for the 13th consecutive year, a recognition awarded to the state with the most job-creating business location and expansion projects. This award reflects Texas’ ongoing commitment to attracting innovative industry leaders and providing a nurturing environment for business and employment growth.
The Governor also emphasized the strategic measures that have contributed to this economic boom. By reducing bureaucratic hurdles and investing wisely in infrastructure, education, and workforce development, Texas has crafted an economic landscape primed for sustained growth and prosperity.
Further bolstering the state’s economic strategy, Governor Abbott recently unveiled a five-year statewide economic development plan. This strategic blueprint is designed to drive continued economic expansion and job creation across all regions of Texas, ensuring that the state remains at the forefront of business innovation and economic development.
As Texas continues to break records and set benchmarks in the national economy, the focus remains on maintaining this momentum through strategic planning and a steadfast commitment to fostering an environment where businesses and individuals can thrive. With such a robust framework in place, Texas is not just leading but also transforming the economic contours of the nation.
