Arlington Museum of Art invites families to experience the creativity of local students at the Youth Art Month exhibition, a free event highlighting youthful talent

Arlington, Texas – From March 7 to April 6, 2025, the Arlington Museum of Art (AMA) will be bustling with creativity and youthful exuberance as it hosts the annual Youth Art Month exhibition. This special event will showcase the artistic talents of students from more than 70 schools across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, including newcomers from Arlington Classics Academy, Fellowship Academy of Kennedale, and Kennemer Middle School of Duncanville. This year also marks the return of Central Elementary from Duncanville, participating for their second year.

According to the City of Arlington, the Arlington Museum of Art, in partnership with the Arlington Independent School District (AISD), has been hosting this significant event since 1990. This collaboration highlights the museum’s commitment to fostering the creative development of young artists and providing them with a prestigious platform to display their works.

Admission to the exhibition is free, allowing families and art enthusiasts to enjoy the wide array of paintings, sculptures, and other artworks created by the students. Further details about the event can be found on the museum’s website.

“Youth Art Month at the Arlington Museum of Art was a truly heartwarming experience,” says Central Elementary Principal Ayanna Parker of Duncanville ISD, “Students beamed with pride seeing their artwork on display, and parents expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to witness their children’s talents displayed. Seeing the pride on the students’ faces as their artwork was displayed and hearing the joy and gratitude from parents was a beautiful reminder of the power of art to inspire, connect, and uplift our community.”

Chris Hightower, President and CEO of the Arlington Museum of Art, emphasized the event’s alignment with the museum’s mission to integrate art, education, and community engagement.

“Youth Art Month beautifully weaves these elements together in such an exciting and joyful way. We particularly love seeing families come to celebrate the talents of their favorite young artists. It’s especially rewarding that, as a cherished tradition, Youth Art Month now brings back parents who once participated themselves as students,” Hightower said.

The exhibition coincides with Texas Youth Art Month activities held at the Capitol building in Austin, and it is part of a broader national initiative led by the Council for Art Education. The aim is to highlight the importance of quality K-12 visual art programs and to garner community and institutional support for these initiatives.

“The partnership with the Arlington Museum of Art is truly unique and special,” said Linh Nguyen, AISD Assistant Director for Visual Arts. “Both the AISD and the AMA share a love and passion for motivating and inspiring the next generations of artists and planting the seed that gives them a pathway to success.”

To facilitate access to the art show, AMA generously donates its 5,000 square feet HELP Center Gallery to AISD, DISD, Arlington Classics Academy, and Fellowship Academy of Kennedale. Hightower stressed the importance of free admission to ensure that no family is deterred by costs. Additionally, the community is invited to support these budding artists through online or in-person donations, which also help fund other educational initiatives like the AMA Summer Art Camp.
