Female officer listed in critical condition after being shot during a drill at a Fort Worth ISD school
Fort Worth, Texas – A Sansom Park officer was shot during a police training exercise at a Fort Worth ISD school. She is in a hospital, where his condition is said to be critical but stable.
Several agencies, including the Sansom Park and Forest Hill police departments, were involved in the training exercise that took place at David K. Sellars Elementary.
The Everman Police Chief Craig Spencer said that the training was done by a third party who also supplied the training equipment and weaponry, but he did not disclose the identity of the third party while the investigation is still underway. In addition, he said that there was no live fire training scheduled for the day, and it is unknown how a weapon was brought into the event.
Additional information, such as how the incident happened or whether the person who fired the weapon was placed on administrative leave, has not been revealed. It was only said that the female officer was shot with a live round and that there were no other people injured.
Authorities said the drill was active shooter training at a school.
