LGBT History Month pride parade returned to Fort Worth after a two-year hiatus
The LGBT History Month pride parade returned to downtown Fort Worth over the weekend after a two-year hiatus, drawing more than 100 people to the streets.
At around nine in the morning, a crowd gathered at the Water Gardens to listen to politicians and ministers deliver speeches. All of the speakers praised the progress that has been made toward LGBT rights and pointed out areas that still require work. Some of these areas include the recognition of violent crimes targeting the gay and trans communities and the work to protect the rights of same-sex couples to get married.
The group then marched through the streets of the downtown area while carrying pride flags, signs, and banners.
Even though there were fewer people than in years past, those who attended the event could not hide their joy. The full schedule of events, which usually starts with a picnic and goes on all week, is set to return next October.
