Starting Monday, Richardson ISD students will not be mandated to wear face masks or coverings as current mandate ends
Richardson, TX – Richardson ISD students. teachers and school staff will not be mandated to wear face masks starting next week as the current mask mandate is set to expire this Friday.
Richardson ISD was among the several school districts who decided not to follow Gov. Greg Abbott’s ban on mask mandates.
Starting Monday, students, teachers and administrative school staff will be encouraged to wear face masks or face coverings, but will not be mandated.
The district relaxed its policy after vaccines were approved for all students in November. It began enforcing it again after the holidays because of the COVID-19 omicron surge.
Just for comparison, Dallas ISD also decided to not follow Gov. Greg Abbott’s ban on mask mandates and the district still has active mask mandate in place that will remain in place at least until the spring break.
