Midlothian man arrested for DUI crash that claimed the life of Florida deputy
A man from Midlothian was taken into custody and charged in connection with a crash in Florida that killed an Escambia County deputy and hurt his teenage daughter.
The 26-year-old Tristen Cole Parker is being held in Okaloosa County Jail without bond on multiple charges including DUI – negligent manslaughter, DUI – serious bodily injury to another and driving with a suspended license.
The collision occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Master Deputy Kevin Ray, who worked for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, was killed, and his daughter, who was 15 years old, suffered serious injuries. She was taken by chopper to the nearest medical facility for treatment.
When the Florida Highway Patrol officers arrived, the arrest report states that they discovered beer cans near Parker’s passenger door. Parker said he had had three or four drinks of alcohol in the hours before the crash.
