Once sexual assault on campus was reported, hundreds of Denton students to go out of class to protest asking for justice

Texas – Hundreds of students to go out of class protesting for the recently reported sexual assault that allegedly happened on the campus.

According to multiple reports, Denton Guyer High School students were expected to stage a walkout Friday morning following the report of an alleged on-campus sexual assault involving two students.

The Denton ISD officials said that they are aware of the issue and already working with the law enforcement in solving the case.

According to the local authorities, they are “thoroughly investigating a sexual assault report made by a juvenile student” but that the investigation is ongoing and that so far no charges have been filed.

Authorities added that they are not able to provide more information at this point of the investigation asking for patience while working on the case.

Additionally, the school officials confirmed they are also working together with the families of the alleged victims, trying to determine what really happened while keeping all the details confidential.

“While we cannot comment on the specifics of this police investigation, we want to assure our community that the safety and well-being of our students and staff is always our top priority,” Julie Zwahr, chief communications officer for the Denton Independent School District said in a statement.

Denton police told NBC 5 Thursday there were no substantial updates in the investigation and that they were continuing to look into the allegation and speak to those involved.
