Warming shelters open in Dallas and Fort Worth during cold spell
An emergency warming center was opened at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center at 650 South Griffin St. in Dallas.
Citizens can access the warming center on Canton Street; it is located in Exhibit Hall A. Citizens will be supplied with a chair and a table, and they should bring food for themselves and their families if they are able to do so.
Water, coffee and light snacks will be made available. The warming center is not an overnight shelter and cots will not be provided.
A COVID-19 screening will be required at sign-in.
The Fort Worth office of emergency Management has announced the opening of several warming centers as frigid temps are and power outages continue.
The centers are for anyone who needs a safe and warm place to go during the day.
