1 Million confirmed Covid-19 cases were surpassed in Texas

Texas has surpassed 1 million confirmed cases of the coronavirus, health district officials confirmed this weekend.

A number that large still does not reflect how many lives have been seriously affected by the pandemic,” officials with the Texas Department of State Health Serviceswrote on Twitter. According to the health district’s statistical dashboard, the state has recorded a cumulative 1,014, 160 cases as of Saturday.

The grim milestone comes five days after Texas recorded a new all-time daily when 10,865 new coronavirus cases were recorded. Updated figures for Sunday were not immediately available, and were slated to be posted by early evening.

According to the dashboard, 8,989 new cases of the respiratory illness were recorded on Saturday. To date, there have been 18,863 fatalities — including 94 new deaths reported as of Tuesday (Nov. 10).
