Nacogdoches celebrated for tourism excellence as city joins inaugural class of communities recognized under new Travel Texas certification program

Nacogdoches, Texas – In a significant acknowledgment of its dedication to enhancing tourism as a key economic driver, the City of Nacogdoches was recently celebrated by Governor Greg Abbott for achieving the status of a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community. This commendation comes from Travel Texas, marking a notable moment in the inaugural year of this certification program.
Governor Abbott expressed his enthusiasm for Nacogdoches’ new designation, highlighting the critical role tourism plays in the state’s economy by supporting numerous jobs and generating substantial economic impact annually.
According to Gov. Abbott, tourism not only supports a significant portion of the Texas workforce but also enriches the state with cultural and historical exchanges that are invaluable.
He extended his congratulations to both the city and Visit Nacogdoches for their efforts and encouraged other Texas communities to pursue this beneficial recognition.
The local impact of this designation was echoed by State Representative Joanne Shofner, who represents Nacogdoches. She noted the city’s rich history and its appeal to tourists, who are drawn to its significant historical sites and beautiful natural settings.
