Fort Worth launches SmartFlush CARE Program to help seniors save water and money with free high-efficiency toilet upgrades and installation

Fort Worth, Texas – In an effort to assist seniors in managing their home expenses more effectively, Fort Worth Water has launched the SmartFlush CARE Program. This initiative is especially designed to offer support and reduce stress by helping senior citizens in the Fort Worth area save both water and money.

The SmartFlush CARE Program is straightforward and generous: it provides up to two high-efficiency toilets per household, completely free of charge, including delivery and installation. These are not just any toilets; the program features the Kohler Highline Comfort Height K-3989 Class Five Dual Flush Toilet, which is valued at $354. This model is known for its water efficiency and comfort, featuring an elongated bowl and compliance with ADA and handicap requirements.

To qualify for this beneficial program, applicants must meet several criteria. Firstly, the resident must be at least 70 years old or meet federal household income guidelines. Additionally, the home must have been built prior to 1994 and have an active Fort Worth Water account in the homeowner’s name. Importantly, the program is designed as a one-time benefit per household, meaning previous participants at the same address are not eligible to apply again.

The benefit of upgrading to these modern toilets extends beyond the immediate financial savings. Older toilets—those installed before 1994—typically use between 3.5 to 7 gallons per flush. The high-efficiency toilets provided through the SmartFlush CARE Program use significantly less water, which not only helps conserve this vital resource but also reduces monthly water bills substantially.

Applying for the program is made easy through several options. Residents can apply online, download an application to email, or request a paper form via mail. All applications are subject to a review process that can take up to six to eight weeks.

Fort Worth Water also provides ample resources for applicants who may have questions or need more information about the program. Interested residents can contact the Water Conservation office by email or phone, where staff are ready to assist and provide further details about the application process and the benefits of the program.

This initiative represents a significant step forward in helping the senior community of Fort Worth manage their utility costs more efficiently while promoting environmental conservation. By reducing the water usage of each household through upgraded technology, the program supports a sustainable future for all residents.
