Puppy yoga takes center stage in Fort Worth on March 22, offering a fun way to practice yoga while interacting with adoptable puppies in need of socialization

Fort Worth, Texas – This spring, Fort Worth Animal Care & Control is launching an exciting new event that combines fitness with furry friends. The first-ever puppy yoga class will take place on March 22 at the Handley Meadowbrook Community Center, located at 6201 Beaty St. From 10 a.m. to noon, participants will have the unique opportunity to practice yoga while being surrounded by playful puppies.

The session promises not only a relaxing workout but also a chance to help puppies in need of socialization. These interactions are vital for their development and increase their chances of being adopted into loving homes. What makes the event even more special is that attendees can adopt any of the puppies they bond with during the class, potentially finding a new furry family member by the time they roll up their yoga mats.

As the puppies roam freely around the room, participants are encouraged to be mindful and give the animals space to explore. This interaction is not only beneficial for the puppies but also for the yoga practitioners. Studies, including those from Johns Hopkins Medicine, have shown that spending time with animals can significantly decrease cortisol levels and lower blood pressure, leading to a sense of calm and well-being.

Puppy yoga is designed to be an inclusive event, welcoming individuals of all ages. Families are encouraged to bring their children, though it is required that kids under 12 be accompanied by an adult. The class is not only a fun outing but also an educational opportunity for young ones to learn about animal care and the responsibilities of pet ownership in a supportive setting.

Admission to the class is $5 per person. All proceeds from the event will support a wonderful cause—funding summer camp programs for children. These camps provide more opportunities for kids to interact with animals and learn about nature and conservation in an engaging and interactive environment.

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a beginner, this class offers a perfect blend of relaxation, exercise, and fun, all for a good cause. So, bring a yoga mat and a heart open to new connections—both human and canine.
