Fort Worth, Texas – The Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) has taken a significant step in shaping its future by appointing Dr. Karen Molinar as the new superintendent. This decision, unanimously supported by the FWISD Board of Trustees, marks a pivotal moment for the district as it aims to enhance its educational standards under new leadership.

Dr. Molinar is no stranger to the Fort Worth education scene. Her career within the district spans several decades, starting from her initial days in the classroom to her most recent position as Deputy Superintendent. Throughout her tenure, Dr. Molinar has been a testament to dedication and leadership, qualities that have now earned her the top position within the district.

The selection of Dr. Molinar has been met with widespread approval within the community and the board. Roxanne Martinez, President of the FWISD Board of Trustees, praised her appointment by highlighting her deep-rooted commitment to student success and her comprehensive understanding of the district’s needs.

Dr. Molinar’s journey through the ranks of FWISD has been characterized by a series of impactful roles. From Chief of Staff to Chief of Elementary Leadership, and earlier roles as Director, Principal, and Assistant Principal, she has demonstrated a consistent focus on fostering educational excellence and collaboration. Her leadership has been integral in devising strategies that directly benefit student learning and community engagement.

Expressing her gratitude for the trust placed in her, Dr. Molinar shared her enthusiasm for her new role.

“I am deeply honored the board chose me to lead the district I hold so close to my heart,” Dr. Molinar said. “Fort Worth is my home, and this community is my family. This work is personal to me, as we ensure today’s students receive a high-quality education, we are also laying the foundation for future generations to benefit from the opportunities we create today.”

Looking ahead, Dr. Molinar has outlined several key priorities for her tenure as superintendent. These include the implementation of the strategic plan, the development of a master facilities plan, and initiatives to improve literacy rates across the district. She emphasized the importance of a collaborative team approach to achieving these goals.

Dr. Molinar’s educational background is extensive. She earned her Doctorate in Education Administration from Texas Wesleyan University in 2023, complemented by a Master’s in Education Administration from Tarleton State University and a Bachelor of Science from Salisbury State University. Additionally, she holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Delaware Technical and Community College.

An active participant in the educational community, Dr. Molinar is involved with several professional organizations such as the Texas Urban Council, the Council of Great City Schools, and the Texas Association of School Administrators. Her engagement in these groups highlights her commitment to staying connected with the latest trends and practices in educational leadership, ensuring that FWISD remains at the forefront of educational innovation and success.
