Dallas, Texas – A man accused of stabbing a woman and leaving her to die in the middle of a street early Sunday morning in Dallas was taken into custody and charged with murder.
The woman, whose identity was not immediately released to the public, was found lying on St. Francis Avenue near Lakeland Hills Park in the early morning hours on Sunday, before dawn. She had several stab wounds in her chest and neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
As soon as the investigators arrived at the crime scene, they searched the victim and found a piece of paper in her shoe. According to the arrest warrant affidavit, there was a man’s name written on the paper, along with a motel name and room number.
Several officers headed to the motel to check on the information written in the note. However, as soon as they arrived, they noticed the suspect leaving the motel and heading to his vehicle. The responding officers followed his car onto Interstate 30. The victim tried to flee the patrol car as soon as the officers tried to pull him over. However, the chase didn’t last long as he crashed his car near I-30 and 1st Avenue.
The suspect suffered minor injuries due to the crash, and he was taken to a local hospital to be checked. The male suspect was arrested shortly after he received treatment and his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
The police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Andre Woods, Jr.
Woods is accused of stabbing the victim to death, and he was charged with murder. Investigators found blood stains that belonged to the victim in Woods’ vehicle and motel room. However, he claims that he was not involved in her death as, according to his version of the story, he only met the victim for se* before getting into a physical argument with her. The blood stains found in his vehicle and motel room were from the victim’s bloody nose, Woods added.
