One drowning victim dead, one listed as critical after rescuers pulled them from Joe Pool Lake
Grand Prairie, Texas – On Thursday, the Grand Prairie Public Safety Dive Team responded to a call at Joe Pool Lake and rescued two swimmers who had been drowning.
The Grand Prairie Fire Department was sent to the beach area of Joe Pool Lake at around 6:35 p.m. on Thursday in response to a call about two possible drownings in the area.
Upon arrival, responding crews pulled two swimmers, a 17-year-old and a 39-year-old, to the shore and immediately transported them to separate hospitals for treatment.
The death of the 39-year-old swimmer was confirmed by medical staff at the hospital, while the 17-year-old swimmer was listed in critical condition.
According to the Grand Prairie Fire Department, both of the drowning victims were not wearing life jackets while swimming in the lake.
Authorities are asking people in the area to follow the advice of the Grand Prairie Fire Department and always wear a life jacket or other suitable personal floating device whenever they are near or in the water.
