Overnight house fire in Irving forced more than 100 people out of their homes, no injuries reported

Irving, Texas – More than 100 residents were forced out of their homes due to an overnight apartment complex fire in Irving, the local fire department confirmed.

According to the incident report, dozens of trucks were sent at the scene to the Bentwood Apartments in the 800 block of S. Nursey Road around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, a large fire was moving quickly through the two-story complex. Due to the danger, the firefighters first had to evacuate 120 residents before they started to battle the flames.

All of the residents that were forced out of their homes were assisted by the Red Cross and they were sent to the Senter Park Recreation Center.

After more than two hours battling the flames, firefighters got the fire under control just before 3:30 a.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

“When fires get into the void spaces inside of buildings it makes it difficult, but the reason we went defensive is becasue it looked like there was going to be some collapse,” said Anthony Kennedy with the Irving Fire Department.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown.

There is ongoing investigation about the incident. Once more details are available, we will update the case.
