Sunday early morning crash fatal for one person in Arlington, woman charged with intoxication manslaughter

Arlington, TX – A 37-year-old man died in the fatal crash that took place in the early morning hours on Sunday, police confirmed.

According to them, two vehicles were involved in the incident that happened at the intersection of N. Collins Street and the westbound I-30 service road around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

The 50-year-old Bernida Collins faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury.

Authorities said that Collins was driving Hyundai Sonata and she ran a red light that struck a Honda HRV that was being driven by a rideshare driver.

There were a total of three people in the Honda SUV, the driver and two passengers. Both of the passengers suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and were immediately transferred to hospital for treatment. One of them, a 37-year-old man, was pronounced dead. The identity was not released by the authorities.

The driver of the HRV also had minor injuries.

Collins also suffered injuries and she was transferred to hospital for treatment. Her condition was stable at the time.

Evidence at the scene and her interactions with investigators led police to believe she was intoxication.

A search warrant was obtained for her blood and a blood draw was taken.
