What Do Leon Bridges, Gary Patterson, and Chris Harrison Have in Common? Fort Worth’s Newest Charity
Fort Worth, Texas – A Grammy-winning musician, a college football coach, and the host of “The Bachelor” walk into a room. The result — a new, Fort Worth-based charity organization with a mission of helping children and families.
Soul singer and Fort Worth native Leon Bridges, TCU head football coach Gary Patterson, and TV host Chris Harrison are teaming up to form The Big Good, an organization that will help raise money for various local nonprofits.
“We know by working together, we can exponentially multiply our efforts, reach more people, and have more fun,” Harrison said in a statement.
The trio first collaborated in May, when The Gary Patterson Foundation hosted a virtual event that raised over $100,000 for The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Tarrant County and the First Tee of Fort Worth. The success of that initial team-up would eventually inspire The Big Good.
On Nov. 14, The Big Good will partner with MWL Cares and The Gary Patterson Foundation to launch an event called The Big Give, assembling 60,000 Thanksgiving meal boxes for North Texas families in need — which is nearly double the number of meals provided last year.
“Since last year’s distribution, many families have had personal and financial hardships that will make this year’s partnership even more critical,” Patterson said in a statement.
According to a news release, The Big Good intends to host more community events throughout the year and will announce information on sponsorships and other ways to get involved “soon.”
“It is important that we engage our community in this effort,” Bridges said in a statement. “We have to work together with the local business leaders and artists who make North Texas the vibrant and exciting place it is, and just have a great time doing a tremendous amount of good for others.”
