‘Masking up’ Issues at the Cowboy Christmas Event in Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas – For the past week, thousands of people have been attending the ‘Cowboy Christmas’ event at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Hundreds of vendors are selling all sorts of Western gear related to the National Finals Rodeo happening in Arlington through Saturday.

But as the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, there has been an issue with 100% compliance to face covering policies inside the venue.

Representatives from the publication was on hand at the event at Cowboy Christmas for about an hour-and-a-half on Wednesday and report that they observed about one quarter of the estimated 350 to 400 visitors incorrectly wearing their mask or not wearing one at all … an event staffer was seen asking people to put their face coverings on.

Fort Worth officials say they’re doing their best to get people to wear masks, with signage listing pandemic protocols in place.

Mike Crum, the city’s public events director, said the city made every effort to make sure that everyone who attends a National Finals Rodeo event knows they must wear a face covering.

Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley says there is a concern that people from other parts of the country could infect the local community.

The issue comes to light amid some of the most dismal stats related to news COVID cases across the metroplex and the nation. The US is approaching some 300,000 COID fatalities.
