Dallas ISD honors Teacher of the Year finalist Nancy Salas

In the midst of a worldwide pandemic that has upended our daily lives and routines, the Dallas Independent School District (ISD) remains steadfast in its commitment to recognizing outstanding educators who have made a profound impact on their students.

Among the honorees is Nancy Salas, a seventh- and eighth-grade Career & Technology teacher and yearbook advisor at Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy, who has been selected as a finalist for the 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year award, according to Dallas Metro News.

Salas’ journey in education began six years ago as a substitute teacher, where she discovered her true calling in life: to dedicate herself to teaching. Since then, she has devoted herself to helping her students excel in the classroom, driven by the same passion that motivates her to share her expertise and knowledge with others. With a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of Texas at Arlington, Salas brings to the classroom a wealth of diverse experiences and perspectives that she uses to inspire her students to dream big and strive for success.

Salas’ commitment to building strong partnerships with her students and their families is rooted in her own experiences as a student. With an unwavering belief that no student should be left behind, Salas invests herself in every aspect of her students’ lives, from nurturing their academic abilities to guiding them towards better social and emotional outcomes.

The Dallas Independent School District’s recognition of Salas is a testament to her exceptional teaching and unwavering dedication to her students. Her tireless efforts have made her a beacon of hope in her community, inspiring both students and teachers with her message of hard work, perseverance, and commitment – qualities that embody the essence of a great educator.

The recognition of Salas also reaffirms the Dallas ISD’s commitment to providing quality education to all students, regardless of their socio-economic background. By celebrating the most exceptional educators in the area, the district bridges the gap between academic learning and real-life experiences.

In essence, Salas’ recognition is a testament to the profound impact that education can have on the lives of those it touches. Her example serves as an inspiration for others to follow in her footsteps, dedicating themselves to the betterment of their students, their communities, and the nation at large.
