37-year-old suspect, wanted in the last week’s shooting in Dallas Koreatown, has been arrested, police

Dallas, TX – The 37-year-old Jeremy Smith, believed to be the main suspect in the last week’s shooting in Dallas Koreatown, has been arrested and booked in the Dallas County Jail on Tuesday, jail records indicate.

Smith was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the incident that left three women injured at Koreatown salon.

Police said that Smith has admitted to have been in the are the day of the shooting and his girlfriend added that he suffers from panic attacks, especially when he is around people of Asian descent.

In addition, Smith’s vehicle and the license plate correlate with what the witnesses had seen right after the shooting.

“The suspect had been involved in a motor vehicle crash with an Asian male about two years ago. Since the crash, the suspect has had near panic attacks when he is around anyone of Asian descent. Anytime the suspect is around anyone of Asian descent, he begins having delusions that the Asian mob is after him or attempting to harm him. Due to the delusions, the suspect has been admitted to several mental health facilities,” the affidavit states.

Several outlets reported that Smith had been fired from a previous job because he reportedly attacked his Asian boss while at work.

Not many details about the injured women’s condition were given, but all three of them are expected to recover. Two of them even attended the Monday’s night safety town hall meeting with the Dallas PD officials, including Chief Eddie Garcia.

Smith is also considered a person of interest in previous similar incidents. One of those incidents took place a month earlier, when gunman in a similar vehicle opened fire on a nearby Koreatown business.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the prior shooting incidents.
