He is “all white, he’s pale”: Woman smothered her six-week-old son for “20 minutes” until he died because her children were crying and she couldn’t handle the stress

Not every person is prepared to be a parent and this was once again confirmed in today’s case when a woman smothered her six-week-old son for “20 minutes” until he died “because she was stressed due to life and having two kids” or at least that’s what the motive was according to her.

According to the incident report, authorities were dispatched at the scene around 9:30 p.m. on November 17 after the mother, identified as the 35-year-old C. Czyzewski, called 911 asking for help saying that her six-week-old son was “all white, he’s pale.”

The dispatch records indicate that the woman added that “stuff” was coming out of her baby’s nose and that the infant was breathing “very lightly.” Dispatch operators heard voices in the background, later confirmed to be Czyzewski’s mother, the 58-year-old L. Kennison. They were staying in Czyzewski’s Connecticut home at the time.

As soon as the first responders arrived at the scene, the baby was transferred to the nearest hospital, then transferred to other, bigger hospital for additional treatment. Unfortunately, the six-week-old boy died few days later on November 21. The boy was born on October 1st. An initial post-mortem exam was inconclusive and the infant showed no clear signs of abuse, state police said.

Police questioned Czyzewski and her mother what had happened that day and Czyzewski said that the little boy was placed in a baby swing in the morning hours around 7:30 a.m. The boy was allegedly sleeping for several hours until around 4 p.m., when the mother went to check on him and discovered that he was very cold to the touch and she placed a blanket on his head.

The baby was still in the swing at 9:25 p.m. when Czyzewski “said the victim had white stuff in his nose and said he was not breathing,” per Kennison’s initial telling of the event; Kennison said she tried to help perform CPR on the child until rescue crews arrived that evening.

The mother was completely stressed and lost while she was questioned by the authorities. At one point she decided to change her initial story and admitted that her mother told her to lie. Czyzewski “acknowledged that she was stressed due to life and having two kids” and said she wasn’t planning to have another child, according to the state police.

That’s the moment when Czyzewski admitted of smothering her six-weeks-old baby for nearly 20 minutes because her children were crying all the time and she was unable to handle the noise and the stress for all that time. Czyzewski and her mother knew what really happened, but Kennison made her daughter lie about the incident because she would have lost custody over her 5-year-old if authorities discovered the truth.

Czyzewski is charged with first-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a child for the death of her “unwanted” six-week-old boy after she admitted what she did to the baby. Kennison was arrested Wednesday pursuant to a warrant.  She was taken into custody “without incident” and charged with risk of injury to a child.

A class C felony is generally punishable by a prison sentence of between one and ten years.
